Pong 3: Turns 187 - 192 of Norway

This week's session (#9) was another quick one. The game slows down a lot with two human players in a Hybrid Turns game. It's fun, but when you have modern combats with a dozen units moving on both sides, things slow way down. It's still a lot of fun, but that's why the sessions are 4-6 turns each right now.

The Great Sea War continues, and in this session, the Norwegian forces slowly eat away at the Russian heartland.

The Great Sea War continues

Began in 1760, the Great Sea War is the great conflict of our world.

Turn 188- First Norwegian Tank Division

We buy a tank unit to bolster defenses and give us something to strike at the resistance with. This division is likely made up of Russian irregulars who wanted to earn honor and dignity in the ranks of the superior Norwegian military culture.

188- Policy update

Hadn't updated this in awhile, and decided to shape things to better suit our new, modern focus on warfare. Note that our gold income is +267 GPT now.

188- Bolshoi Theatre is built

Inspired by the music and performances of Russia, we adapt our ancient fertility rites into something resembling high culture. The result is ballet. We immediately shift a Russian score into its new home in the Bolshoi. Norwegian people celebrate another fruit of our overseas adventures.

188- Solikamsk is conquered

Battleships easily shatter the walls and the new tank division rolls in.

189- Russia adopts Communism

189- The fleet is slowed in the Russian Strait

190- News of the world

190- Qin (China), my last friend, denounces me

I am the villain of the world now.
Their insults leave us little choice but to make them all a part of a new Norwegian world order.

190- We finally discover Smolensk

Yes, it really took me 190 turns to get a unit close enough to see Smolensk, Joe's largest city (22). Interestingly, it is located 3-tiles away from the coast so perhaps I'll be able to siege even a city this far from shore someday. For now, the tank division withdraws, content with its survey of Russia's southern plain.

190- Voronezh falls

Another Russian city falls to our navy. (Sorry for the religion lens)

190- More Russian "art" is collected for our museums

191- The theory of Communism is spreading

191- The new Russian navy

Because of Russia's yellow color, I didn't notice that there were two (2) fleets of battleships hiding in the Bay of Moscow. Unfortunately, I moved to attack one with the Hades Intrepid, my best ship, but the damage was insufficient to critically injure it. The forward fleet is in trouble now.

This was a great move on Joe's part. The Venetian Arsenal is keeping his options open.

192- News of the world

192- Russia sinks the Hades Intrepid, my best ship

192- I am a villain (-40 Warmonger)
