We first encountered Gurgan's whispers deep within the forests south of Aachen. Our troops were merely wandering about when they heard his whispers. A small, elderly man approached our troops and told them the voice was that of Gurgan, the mighty blood god, and that we must bow and we will be rewarded. Our troops were skeptical but the old man produced a necklace strung together of shrunken heads. He told us Gurgan did that. He said the necklace gave him extraordinary powers and because of them he foresaw our coming. We followed him deeper into the woods to his shack. He emerged with a bowl full of foul smelling red liquid. He told us to drink of it. He told us to accept Gurgan's gift. Our troops hesitated but one stepped forward. He drank of the elixir and cried out in pain. His muscles bulged, his eyes became red, and he roared "FOR GURGAN!" before cackling madly and screaming incoherent lines of speech. He charged at his fellow soldier and struck him, blood gushed from the wound. He licked it up. The other troops witnessing this transformation saw not horror but opportunity. The peoples of Germany would be conquerors. They submitted and now Gurgan's whispers enter the minds of the German people everywhere.

It seems my empire was cursed from the beginning of time. After fighting off evil barbarians in the north our seasoned troops encountered a far more vicious foe. Gurgan's bloodthirsty disciples converged on our cities, demanding our surrender. Although all hope seemed lost, we fought valiantly to defend our homeland. As the German push waned, we devised a diplomatic trap. Blinded by their hubris our foes pounced on the deal only to see that we had stolen 2 of their cities and emptied their treasuries. Inspired by our shadowy victory, we hope to quell the German threat and incorporate any peaceful citizens into our empire.
